Why is it more important to look at the Macro ratio rather than just following the calories I eat?
We all know that you must have a certain amount of calories for energy to survive and that the three types of Macronutrients (Carbohydrates, Proteins and Fats) all provide calories to the body. But, we have also learned that not all calories are the same and where they come from influences many things, including our weight. Because of that, many different programs suggest varied ratios of the Macros to achieve somewhat different results. For instance, when trying to lose weight, a low carbohydrate diet is often suggested. When exercising at a high level for a period of time, a diet with higher levels of protein might be recommended. You will notice that in the Sensable Health program, the ratio between the Macros actually changes depending on several different factors as you go through the program. Having the right balance of where your calories come from is more important to us than just counting calories. You will learn more about this in the Nutrition Domain.
